2012 is promising to be a very busy year for Cowes and The Solent. There's regular events planned such as Cowes Week and the Round the Island Race as well as one-off specials such as the special edition Super Yacht Cup and of course, the 2012 London Olympics.

After a hugely successful year this year, Aberdeen Asset Management will be back in 2012 to host the 2012 Cowes Week. 2011 will be remembered as one of the liveliest and more spectacular regattas of recent years; blessed with superb racing conditions, this year's edition of the world's best-know sailing regatta has been described a 'vintage year'. We've no doubt that the regatta running between 11th - 18th August 2012 will be another roaring success.

Now in it's 81st year and taking place on Saturday 30th June, the 2012 J.P. Morgan Round Asset Management Round the Island Race will see thousands of competitors from across the globe descend on Cowes to race the 50nm course around the Isle of Wight. 2011's race saw competitors battle high winds and weather conditions to test the most experienced sailor. Let's hope that 2012's Race is enjoyed in somewhat lighter conditions.
The superyacht cup is a regular occurrence in Palma and now in it's 16th year, is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe. For 2012, they are hosting a Special Edition in Cowes from 22nd - 25th July to coincide with the start of the London 2012 Olympics. The event will be the first ever Superyacht Cup regatta in Cowes and will include a Round the Isle of Wight race.

The London 2012 Olympics will see the South coast full of sailing action. Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour will be the the venues for 13 events during the summer for both the Olympic and Paralympic games.
The Olympic torch will be coming to the Island and East Cowes next July.
