8 Metre World Championships

The Royal Yacht Squadron, the Organising Authority for the 2012 International Eight Metre World Championship, has facilities and equipment second to none for organising racing and social activities. The Championship will be raced in the Solent, a superb stretch of sheltered tidal water between the south coast of the English mainland and the Isle of Wight.

Sunday 15th July
Regatta Opening Reception at the Royal Yacht Squadron. Dress: smart casual.

Monday 16th July
Supporters’ visit: Osborne House, East Cowes. Free evening.

Tuesday 17th July
Canadian Champagne Reception at the Sir Max Aitken Museum, Cowes. Dress: smart casual.

Wednesday 18th July
Supporters’visit to Portsmouth Waterfront & Historic Dockyard. Free evening.

Thursday 19th July
Informal Hog Roast/BBQ at the Royal Yacht Squadron Pavilion. Dress: casual.

Friday 20th July
Supporters’ visit: Isle of Wight tour, lunch at the George Hotel, Yarmouth. Free evening.

Saturday 21st July
Regatta Prize Giving Dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron Pavilion. Dress: jacket and tie.
Supporters’ visits will include transport and lunch and will be subject to prior booking with payment at the Regatta Desk.

The RYS Pavilion will be open daily, with a cash bar, as the social centre for the regatta.
Lunchtime and evening meals will be available subject to prior booking with payment
