Cowes Yacht Haven is proud to host the next Knobs & Knockers Charity Ball on Saturday, 1 December 2012.
It’s that time of year again when Mary Hodder, Claire Rixon and Julie King, fondly known as the “Knobs and Knockers ladies”, don their fundraising hats as they prepare for their fourth Knobs and Knockers Ball.
This year’s event, which is to be held on Saturday, 1 December at Cowes Yacht Haven, has had a very special kick-start with the ladies being invited to the Breakthrough Breast Care Unit in London. The unit is attached to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Kensington and any fundraiser who raises in excess of £1,000 are kindly invited to the centre so they can see exactly how their money is being used. Knobs and Knockers has in fact raised over £15,000!. The research unit is run purely on donations and it was humbling for the team to realise the thousands of pounds that are needed each year to carry out the much needed research work.
Part of the visit included a tour of the various laboratories and a chance for the fundraisers to meet with the researchers to discuss their work within the unit. Julie commented: “During our visit we were overwhelmed by the number of people who thanked us for our efforts in raising money and we were so inspired by how passionate everyone was about their work and involvement in the organisation.“
Work has already started on getting as many people as possible on board for this year’s event. Local businesses are being asked for their help, whether this be in the form of donations, raffle or auction prizes or having a table at the ball itself. With the event being so close to Christmas it is hoped that people will consider using it as their office Christmas function.
If you feel you can help in any way then please contact the Knobs and Knockers ladies on 07785 988916. They would love to hear from you.
