This year the world famous annual solo yacht race is making a pit stop at the Isle of Wight, bringing with it a fantastic summer festival atmosphere and plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The race starts and ends in France, with 35 yachts setting out on an epic 1,500 mile journey which will take them more than a month to complete. The colourful fleet of Figaro yachts start their journey at Deauville (coincidentally twinned with Cowes!) and sail 510 miles around their marker in the English Channel and up to the Island where they moor up in the European Capital of Sailing - Cowes.
The race pushes competitors to the edge combining miles upon miles of rough seas, harsh weather and little chance of sleep! During the race's four day stopover in Cowes when the sailors get the chance to prepare for the next leg of the race, the town will burst to life with coastal events and family-friendly activities.
Watch the fleet arrive in Cowes on 22nd June and enjoy the Solitaire Race Village until the 26th June when the sailors depart and head for Paimpol on the next leg of their journey.
