Cowes Harbour Commission Chairman Roger Mathias has organised a fun art competition for Cowes schools, open to Years 5 and 6, to create a picture of the steam launch Kariat, set against the Jubilee River Thames Royal Pageant as the theme.
Kariat is a steam launch which was built in East Cowes in 1897 and owned by Cowes man John Power who skippered her and represented the Island in the Jubilee Thames Pageant. Some great prizes are to be won and the closing date for entries is Wednesday, 11 July.
