UIM Cowes to Monte-Carlo World Cup Grand Prix 2013

24 January 2012

It's Monte Carlo or Bust!

The UIM Cowes to Monte-Carlo World Cup Grand Prix will start at 09.30 on Saturday 8th June in 2013 off the Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes on the Isle of Wight in the UK. A fleet of some fifty high speed long range powerboats, some of the very best in the world, will head West down the Solent,  turning at the Needles before heading for France - 231 nautical miles away.

The race will last in total for fifteen days visiting eleven cities starting at Brest and then Sable d’Olonne in France, Santander and Sada a Coruna in Northern Spain, then onto Cascais and Portimao in Portugal, then on down through the Straights of Gibraltar to Benalmadena, Alicante and Barcelona in southern Spain, onto Port Camargue in southern France and then onto the final dash for the finish along the famous Cote D’Azur to Monte Carlo  and Monaco.

This is the longest and toughest offshore powerboat race in the world -- bar none.

This race has only happened once before in the history of powerboat racing -- in 1972. So it is time to resurrect this great epic race and the team that is doing it is the same as ran the 1,400 mile Round Britain Race in 2008, Mike Lloyd and his two colleagues Peter Myles and Alan Goodwin. Mike likes to offer the adventure and the dream and this race provides both.

For more information go to the Cowes to Monte Carlo 2013 website.
