Cowes Week 2010

Welcome to Cowes Week. Since 1826 Cowes Week has played a key part in the British sporting summer calendar and is one of the UK’s longest running and most successful sporting events. It now stages up to 40 daily races for over 1,000 boats and is the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world.

A colourful Cowes Week

This eight day event has a rich heritage, having run since 1826, and attracts a wide range of competitors from thousands of amateur sailors to Olympic and world champions.

Over 1,000 yachts and 8,500 competitors will be on the water during this year's event and Cowes Online wishes everyone competing or spectating a wonderful week of sailing and partying.

Whether or not you're racing, there is plenty to keep you up-to-date and entertained during the Event:

  • Watch daily video reports of all the Cowes Week action on and off the water here on Cowes Online.
  • Watch our live streaming video cameras on the Royal Yacht Squadron start line and Trinity Landing.
  • See our daily video content on the 12 high-definition iZone screens in Cowes Yacht Haven, and the town's most popular pubs; The Anchor Inn, Pier View, Vectis Tavern, Fountain Inn, The Waterside, and the Duke of York.
  • Keep up-to-date with what's happened on and off the water via the dedicated Event radio station, Cowes Radio, by tuning in to 87.7 FM.
  • The official event programme provides detail information on what's happening out on the water as well as the events diary throughout the course of the week, and much more - it is widely available for purchase throughout Cowes.
  • Spectacular views of the racing can be enjoyed from the shore or out on the water with the spectator boats setting off each day from Trinity Landing off the Parade.
  • Ladies Day will be held again this year - on Wednesday, 4 August - celebrating sailing as one of the few mainstream sports where men and women compete equally.
