Notice is hereby given that the Cowes Chain Ferry will be out of service to undergo planned maintenance and repair tasks until 29 September 2025.

During this time, the Chain Ferry may be moored on either side of the river depending on the works to be carried out. During working hours, the Chain Ferry will be monitoring VHF 69.

On Tuesday 23 September, the Chain Ferry chains will be replaced and there will be restrictions on passing the ferry for short periods of time during the morning. The Cowes Harbour vessel HM1, will be on station from 0815hrs to warn / stop traffic at the times when passing is not permitted. Please call ahead on VHF 69 to ensure it is safe to pass, before you set off.

A passenger only service will be in pace for the duration of the work.

All mariners are advised to navigate in the area with caution, and to avoid creating wash in the vicinity of the Cowes Chain Ferry.

This local notice to mariners will self-cancel at 2359hrs 30 September 2025.
