1.42 m VHF: Channel 69 Report an Incident

Harbour Information

Fuel Berth

Cowes Harbour Fuel Berth is a deep draught fuel facility

Cowes Harbour Fuels – (Fuel Berth on VHF Channel 69)

Located approximately 200 metres south of the Cowes Chain Ferry, the fuel berth provides a charted depth of 3.9 metres below chart datum. To calculate the available water depth at the berth, mariners should add the current tide height to this figure.

The berth face is aligned with the prevailing tidal stream, facilitating straightforward access. Vessels should approach head to tide and use a controlled ferry glide for optimal berthing.

Chain Ferry Transit Advisory:
Vessels must not attempt to pass while the Chain Ferry is in operation. A minimum clearance of 10 metres from the ferry’s bow is advised when passing astern.

For determining clearance over the submerged chains, use the formula:
Tide height + 1.5 metres = total depth above the chains.
Real-time tide height data is available via the Cowes Harbour Commission website, or refer to the analogue tide gauge positioned at the 4A beacon.

The Fuel Berth supplies ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel free from any biodiesel, marine fuels, gas and lubricating oils to commercial and leisure users. An automatic declaration facility is available.
