Cowes Harbour Advisory
Committee (CHAC)

Cowes Harbour Commission is committed to open dialogue with our stakeholders. An Advisory Committee, appointed by the board represents the beneficiaries and stakeholders of Cowes Harbour.

CHAC is a key element of good governance for the harbour, creating a point of contact between the Harbour Commission and harbour stakeholders. This enables the Commission to consult and seek guidance from stakeholders, and for stakeholders to table ideas, raise concerns and comment on proposed changes to the operation of the harbour.

Committee Stakeholder Representatives

Chaired by Mark Southwell, Operation Manager of Cowes RNLI, the committee includes representatives from Red Funnel, UKSA, Cowes and East Cowes Town Councils, marina operators, sailing clubs, event committees, shipyards and commercial operators. In addition, Chief Executive Gary Hall, the Cowes Harbour Master Harbour Master, and Commissioner Clive Blount  attend on behalf of the Harbour Commission

The Advisory Committee self-appoints their Chair. The composition of CHAC is decided by committee members and is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it reflects the community which the Harbour Commission serves.

CHAC Meetings

CHAC meets three times a year, usually in January, April and September. The agenda at each Advisory Committee meeting covers the following topics: marine industry, commercial vessels, leisure activity, marinas, moorings & berths, regattas and racing, public use and access.
