Cowes Harbour Commission Supports Maritime Careers Fair

Cowes Harbour Commission is pleased to be supporting the Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation Maritime Careers Fair, taking place today at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes.

Our Deputy Harbour Master, Jennie Smith, is attending the event, meeting with young people and sharing an insight into the diverse career opportunities available within the maritime industry.

The careers fair brings together a wide range of maritime businesses, organisations, training providers and employers, showcasing the many different pathways available across the sector – from marine operations and engineering to boatbuilding, commercial shipping, yachting and beyond.

For Cowes Harbour Commission, supporting opportunities for the next generation is an important part of maintaining a strong and skilled maritime workforce on the Isle of Wight. Events such as this provide young people with the opportunity to meet those already working in the industry, ask questions and learn more about the qualifications, skills and experience that can help them build a career in maritime.

The Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation was established in 2015 with a mission to raise the aspirations of young people on the Island and help them access education, training and vocational opportunities, particularly within the marine industry.

We are delighted to be part of today’s event and to play our part in helping to inspire the next generation of maritime professionals.
