Cowes has welcomed a truly magnificent visitor to its shores as the renowned Polish tall ship Dar Młodzieży arrived in the harbour, creating a stunning focal point on the waterfront and attracting attention from residents and visitors alike.

Known as one of the world’s most impressive sailing training vessels, the three-masted ship towers above the harbour with her elegant rigging, towering masts and unmistakable presence. Built in 1982 and based in Gdynia, Poland, Dar Młodzieży serves as a sail training vessel and has become an ambassador for maritime heritage across the globe.

Her visit to Cowes is particularly fitting as the town celebrates the bicentenary of Cowes Week, adding yet another memorable maritime moment to an already historic summer.

On Sunday evening, Cowes Harbour Commission’s Harbour Master, Capt. Jon Kidd, and Deputy Harbour Master, Jennie Smith, had the opportunity to step aboard the vessel and meet members of the crew, experiencing first-hand the scale, craftsmanship and rich maritime traditions that make Dar Młodzieży such an iconic ship.

“The arrival of a vessel like Dar Młodzieży is always a special occasion,” said Capt. Jon Kidd, Harbour Master at Cowes Harbour Commission. “Her presence in the harbour is a reminder of the enduring traditions of sail training and international maritime friendship. We’re delighted to welcome her to Cowes.”

Whether viewed from the Parade, Cowes Harbour, Trinity Landing or from the water itself, the ship provides a spectacular sight and a rare opportunity to see one of the world’s great tall ships up close.

Visitors in Cowes today are encouraged to take a stroll along the waterfront and experience this remarkable vessel for themselves. With her towering masts reaching high above the harbour and her striking profile dominating the skyline, Dar Młodzieży is certain to be one of the most photographed sights in Cowes this summer.
