After seven unforgettable days of world-class racing, shoreside celebrations and a vibrant festival atmosphere, North Sails Cowes Week 2026 came to a dramatic and dazzling close on Friday evening with a spectacular fireworks display over the Solent.

As darkness fell across the harbour, thousands of spectators gathered along the waterfront, aboard boats and throughout Cowes to witness the much-anticipated finale. The sky erupted into a breathtaking display of colour, light and sound, providing a fitting end to what has been a truly historic year for the regatta as Cowes Week celebrated its 200th anniversary. The fireworks returned for the first time in seven years, helping to make the bicentenary edition one of the most memorable in recent history.

Throughout the week, Cowes Harbour was alive with activity. More than 600 boats and thousands of sailors took to the waters of the Solent, while visitors flocked to the town to enjoy the unique atmosphere that makes Cowes Week one of the world’s most iconic sailing events.

From the opening races to the final prize-giving, the bicentenary celebrations showcased everything that makes Cowes special. The return of title sponsor North Sails brought fresh energy to the event, with competitors, residents and visitors embracing a packed programme both on and off the water. The week delivered thrilling racing, lively entertainment, packed waterfront venues and a sense of celebration that could be felt across the harbour.

For Cowes Harbour Commission, it has been a privilege to welcome competitors, visitors, cruise guests and supporters from across the UK and beyond. The harbour has once again demonstrated why it remains at the heart of one of the most celebrated events in the sailing calendar.

As the final bursts of fireworks reflected across the water and brought the curtain down on North Sails Cowes Week 2026, there was a feeling shared by many around the harbour: this was not just the end of another regatta, but the culmination of a landmark celebration of 200 years of sailing history.
