Revised 5 year Strategic Plan

In June of this year, Cowes Harbour Commission commenced a mid-term review of CHC’s Strategic Plan 2016-2021 and asked the Advisory Committee and other stakeholders for their ideas and input. The review is now complete and we would like to thank all those who contributed to the discussion.

As a result of the review, the Strategic Plan has been updated. Changes are limited in number but are intended to ensure that CHC focuses on the current key issues. We highlight the following key points, which are explained in more detail in the full “Mid-Term Review Summary”.

Safety in the harbour remains the Commission’s overriding objective.

CHC will work with partners to aim to ensure that suitable strategic planning is undertaken for Cowes and the Medina Valley, so that port infrastructure and services are appropriate for the future, and that marine services and employment are protected and stimulated.

Following the completion of the Cowes Breakwater and Eastern Channel, CHC will now focus on the improvement of harbour access, facilities and services. This will include the review and provision of short stay moorings and slipway access for small craft in both East Cowes and Cowes.
