The skies above the Solent came alive on Thursday evening as thousands of spectators looked up in awe to witness one of the most exhilarating highlights of North Sails Cowes Week 2026.

As part of the bicentenary celebrations marking 200 years of Cowes Week, a breathtaking aerial display delivered adrenaline-fuelled entertainment that perfectly complemented the action on the water. Against the stunning backdrop of the Solent, the iconic G-PSZB Pitts S2B Special and the Firebird aircraft wowed crowds with a series of daring twists, loops, rolls and high-energy aerobatic manoeuvres.

Gasps and applause echoed along the waterfront as the skilled pilots pushed their aircraft to the limit, performing precision flying displays that left spectators captivated from start to finish. The Pitts S2B Special, renowned for its agility and aerobatic capabilities, danced effortlessly across the evening sky, while the Firebird added even more drama with a thrilling display that showcased speed, skill and spectacular aerial artistry.
